Originally booked for Saturday 3rd March, but due to inclement weather the event had to be cancelled, Saturday 24 March, 2018 saw five members of the Friends of Woodthorpe Grange Park sliding through mud to pick litter from the bottom end of the park which backs onto Sherwood Vale. It is this part of the park which gets paid scant attention, and as a consequence is a haven for fly tippers.
In all, eight huge bags of rubbish were filled consisting mainly of sweet rappers, dozens of drinks cans and beer bottles. One of the members even found, partially buried bag of wet flyers advertising pizzas and a broken plastic cover from a lawnmower. Therefore, to cut a long story short, we barely began to scratch the surface where picking litter is concerned. Therefore, come the next litter picking session, it will be more than likely, again, be concentrating in that area of the park.
